Technical details

The Geotto firmware is designed to operate an IoT-powered geothermal incubator system, optimized initially for poultry but adaptable for other use cases like drying, cooking, or saunas. The firmware will control environmental conditions using sensor data and advanced algorithms while offering a user-friendly and secure interface.

User Interface and GUI
(The system features a custom loading animation with the Geotto logo or a user-specified design. Users are welcomed by an interactive GUI with widgets representing key functions like monitoring, settings, alarms, and reports. It operates on a 5-inch+ touchscreen display with both onscreen buttons and optional keypad input. Real-time data display includes temperature and humidity readings from up to four sensors, power statistics (voltage, current, and consumption), and a real-time clock for time, date, and cycle-specific information)
Environmental Control
The firmware uses PID control algorithms to manage real-time sensor data, comparing it with user-defined set points. It controls fans for airflow, a geothermal heat exchanger for temperature regulation, and a humidifier to maintain optimal moisture levels. An integrated alarm system alerts users if environmental conditions deviate significantly from the desired set points
Customizable Hatching Profiles
The firmware features breed-specific profiles with pre-loaded hatching parameters for various bird species, both domestic and wild. Users can customize these settings or create new profiles for different breeds, adjusting set points for the turning mechanism, temperature, and humidity manually through the GUI or by selecting predefined species data.

Cycle Tracking and Display
The system provides real-time cycle monitoring by displaying the current day in the hatching cycle along with the number of days remaining. Users receive alerts for key milestones, such as turning intervals and the expected hatching day.
Alarm System and Security
The integrated alarm system alerts users to critical failures, such as temperature or humidity deviations from set points, by triggering audible notifications and sending alerts to remote servers and user mobile apps. To enhance security, the device is protected with a password or touch pattern lock, preventing unauthorized access to critical functions, while also logging any unauthorized access attempts.
Connectivity and Data Logging
The Geotto firmware utilizes WiFi or GSM connectivity to communicate real-time data to a central server for continuous monitoring and data storage. It periodically uploads key metrics, such as temperature, humidity, power statistics, and system status to the cloud server or mobile app. Additionally, it locally logs data with backup features to prevent data loss in case of network failures.
